Karaoke Kalk is a record label for electronic music founded in 1997 .

history

Karaoke Kalk was founded in 1997 in Cologne by Thorsten Lütz alias DJ Strobocop. The name of the label is derived from the Cologne-Kalk district on the right bank of the Rhine . The first release was the EP Senking by the musician Kandis .

In particular, the 2002 album Love Streams by the band März was commercially successful and sold well in Germany, the United States and Japan.

In 2005 the label moved from Cologne to Berlin. In the same year, the Kalk Pets sub-label was founded, whose focus, with records by Pascal Schäfer , Antonelli , Daniel Meteo and Paul Frick, was more on danceable electronic music.

On the occasion of its tenth anniversary, Karaoke Kalk went on an anniversary tour in 2007 with labelmakers friends from Tomlab , Monika Enterprise and Sonig as well as the magazine De: Bug .
