Donna Regina
Donna Regina is an electronic pop duo made up of the married couple Regina and Günther Janssen and has been releasing records since 1990. They also remix pieces by other musicians such as Wolfgang Flür (Ex- Kraftwerk ).
Career
Günther Janssen works as a radio presenter for the program "Rock-Zeit" on Deutschlandfunk and composes television and film music. He also produced two radio plays for Bayerischer Rundfunk : “Indian Night Piece”, based on a novella by Antonio Tabucchi and “Thinking about Dylan”. In May 2001 he and Theo Roos , whom he also accompanies musically at his readings, received the Radio Play of the Month award for “Dylan's Thinking” . Regina Janssen, a stewardess, lent her voice to the Yamo project by Wolfgang Flür, the guitar project by Michael Lückner (from the computer jockeys ) and Bertrand Burgalat's album Portrait-Robot (2005).
Due to her popularity in Japan, Donna Regina played her first live concert in Tokyo in late 1996. Her music was also used there for a Nissan commercial .
At the International Short Film Festival in Oberhausen 2002, the video for “Why” (director: Graw Böckler) won first prize at the MuVi Awards.
Artists who remixed Donna Regina pieces include Matthew Herbert , Mouse On Mars , A Certain Frank, and Charles Wilp .
The title of their album The Decline of Female Happiness refers to the study The Paradox of Declining Female Happiness by Betsey Stevenson and Justin Wolfers .
