Bertrand Burgalat (* 1963 in Bastia , Corsica ) is a French musician, composer and producer. Stylistically, it can be classified in the context of the Nouvelle Chanson or the Nouvelle Scène de Française.

Career

When Bertrand Burgalat was born, his father was Vice-Prefect of the island of Corsica. In his youth, Bertrand had to move several times as his father kept taking on new tasks as a high-ranking government official. At the age of 10, a Pink Floyd concert first piqued his interest in pop music. In his mid-twenties he already produced a complete album for the band Laibach .

In 1995 Burgalat founded his own label Tricatel . He took the name Tricatel from the successful French comedy L'Aile ou la cuisse with Louis de Funès and Coluche in the leading roles, which was released in Germany under the name of Brust oder Keule .

In the following years Burgalat worked with numerous French bands such as Air , April March , AS Dragon , Dalcan and Jad Wio , but also with international greats such as Nick Cave , Depeche Mode , Soul II Soul and Pizzicato Five . In 1997 he composed the soundtrack for the film Quadrille by Valérie Lemercier . In 1999 he produced with Cinnamon , a Swedish indie pop band, their successful album Vertigo . In 2000 he published a music CD by the French writer Michel Houellebecq entitled Présence humaine . On his 2005 album Portrait-Robot , the singer Regina Janssen from Donna Regina contributed the vocals to three songs.

In 2000 Burgalat started a solo project with the release of his debut album The Ssssound of Mmmusic . Over the years, further in-house productions followed, which musically offer a mixture of electronic music and psychedelic rock with choirs and strings. His style was influenced by France Gall , Françoise Hardy , Jacques Dutronc and Serge Gainsbourg as well as by the electro of Kraftwerk .
