Heinrich Wilhelm von Holtzbrinck (born January 3, 1809 in Altena ; † June 24, 1877 at Oedenthal Castle , Westphalia province ) was a German administrative lawyer in the Kingdom of Prussia . He was Minister of Commerce and a member of the Reichstag .

Life

The father was Heinrich Wilhelm Holtzbrinck of the same name , owner of a manor in Oedenthal and district administrator in the Altena district . The mother was Anna Marie Henriette geb. Haardt . Holtzbrinck himself had been married to Johanna von Hymmen zu Hain (1820-1858) since 1849 .

Career

Holtzbrinck passed his Abitur at the grammar school in Düsseldorf and then studied law in Göttingen , Heidelberg , Bonn and Berlin . During his studies he became a member of the old Bonn fraternity in 1828 . In 1830 he joined the Prussian judicial service at the court in Arnsberg as an auscultator . Then he was also a court trainee there, before he switched to the regional council in Arnsberg as a government trainee in 1832 . He was released from military service on the grounds of unsuitability. From 1836 he worked as a government assessor in Düsseldorf, later in Magdeburg and from 1839 back in Arnsberg .

In 1840 Holtzbrinck was appointed government councilor in Arnsberg. A year later he was elected district administrator for the Altena district. He held this office until 1853, when he was appointed senior councilor and department head in the government in Arnsberg. In 1857 Holtzbrinck became Vice President of the government in Münster .

In 1862 he was Prussian Minister for Trade, Industry and Public Works for a few months (from May to early October). When the Prussian constitutional conflict developed, Holtzbrinck and other ministers resigned in protest. With his dismissal from office, the appointment was effective. Between 1863 and 1874, Holtzbrinck served as district president in Arnsberg.

Holtzbrinck had sat in the Westphalian provincial parliament since 1853 . From 1865 to 1875 he was chairman of the committee as the state marshal. After that, he left that congregation. He was also a member of the First and Second United State Parliament in 1847/48 . From 1850 to 1852 he was a member of the second chamber of the Prussian state parliament . In 1853 and 1854 Holtzbrinck was a member of the First Chamber. Finally, in 1867, he was a member of the North German Reichstag for the Conservative Party (Prussia) .
