Friedrich Wilhelm Franz van Spankeren , from 1858 von Spankeren (born April 23, 1804 in Eupen , † March 21, 1886 in Bonn ) was a Prussian civil servant and politician.

Live and act

He came from an originally Dutch family from Spankeren (today Rheden ) and was the son of Eberhard van Spankeren (1761–1840) and Karoline Wilhelmine, née. Kloenne (1769-1845). His older brother was the Prussian war counselor Wilhelm von Spankeren (1797–1862), his nephew the Prussian Lieutenant General Rudolf von Spankeren (1839–1920).

Spankeren passed his Abitur at the Joachimsthaler Gymnasium in Berlin . He probably did not do military service. He studied law and political science in Bonn and Berlin. In 1825 he passed the examination as an auscultator , in 1827 as a trainee lawyer and in 1831 as a court assessor. In 1831 and 1832 he worked in this capacity at the regional courts in Cologne and Trier . Then he was temporarily legal advisor to the government in Trier .

In 1834 Spankeren and Friederike Paulina Stubbe married in Paderborn .

In 1835 he was state procurator (public prosecutor) at the Trier regional court and was promoted to the regional judge a short time later. In 1837 von Spankeren became a member of the government in Koblenz . In 1844 he was appointed senior government councilor and department head. In 1849 he was appointed provisional district president in Düsseldorf . A year later, he moved back to Koblenz as Vice President . From 1854 to 1863 he was the district president in Arnsberg . According to the law of July 21, 1852, Spankeren was put into temporary retirement in 1863 for political reasons. The final dismissal from civil service with pension entitlement followed in 1867.

Spankeren was also politically active alongside and especially after his professional activity. As a liberal , he belonged to the first chamber of the Prussian state parliament in 1849 . In the years 1866/67 he was a national liberal member of the Prussian House of Representatives in the old liberal parliamentary group . In 1867 he was also a member of the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation and belonged to the National Liberal Party . From 1869 to 1873 Spankeren was again a member of the Prussian House of Representatives.
