location

The station is located in the western district of Äuesow and extends underground in an east-west direction under the Abai-Prospekt street between Ötegen batyr and Altynsarin-Prospekt. It is the current terminus of Line A and around 830 m from Sairan station. Nearby is the Russian State Academic Theater for Children and Youth.

description

Construction began in October 2012 and lasted until December 2014. Originally, the station was planned to be named Molodjoschnaja (Молодёжная). In October 2011, an agreement was reached between the Kazakh embassy in Russia and the Moscow city government to designate two metro stations in both cities. Since then this station has been named after the Russian capital, the current terminus of the Samoskvorezkaya line of the Moscow Metro has been called Alma-Atinskaya since then.

The station building is 110.3 m long and 15.2 m wide. The station is located at a depth of 20 m and was built using the cut-and-cover method. It has a central platform with stairs leading from both ends to a mezzanine floor. From each of the two mezzanines, two escalators lead to the surface on both sides of the Abai Prospect. The pillars in the station are covered with red tiles; the red wall decoration is supposed to represent the walls of the Moscow Kremlin . On the mezzanine floors there is a photo gallery with famous Moscow buildings.
