history

Research and development in the laboratory

Meguin was founded in 1847 by Gustav Meguin. He initially produced hoof greases and car lubricants before the product range was expanded in 1890 to include mineral oils and technical greases, which were required for the beginning motorization.

In 1873, against the background of the overall low production of resin oil in Germany, Meguin recorded an annual production of 15,000 quintals of resin oil for lubricating machines with the simultaneous extraction of pinolin , pitch and other products.

In 2006 the Ulm additive manufacturer Liqui Moly acquired the company and Ernst Prost took over the management of Meguin. Today, as a production company, Meguin supplies a number of well-known companies in the mineral oil branch, mineral oil trade and industry.

In the port of Saarlouis / Dillingen , Meguin operates a tank farm with a capacity of around 10,000 cubic meters .

Liqui Moly and Meguin have been part of this group since the Liqui-Moly Group was taken over by the Würth Group.
