Ordre du Mérite agricole
The French Order of Merit for Agriculture ( French Ordre du Mérite agricole ) was founded on July 7, 1883 at the request of the Minister of Agriculture , Félix Jules Méline , by the French President Jules Grévy . It serves as a reward for merits in the fields of agriculture , forestry and fishing , but which are not sufficient to be awarded the Legion of Honor . The award is made by decision of the Minister of Agriculture.

Order decoration
The sign of the order is a silver enamelled six-pointed star , which is underlaid in the corners by a golden wreath of ears of corn and corn stalks. The medallion shows Marianne's head turned to the right . All around, the inscription REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE in a blue enamelled ring and two crossed laurel branches in the lower part of the ring . On the reverse the two-line inscription MERITE AGRICOLE and the year 1883 .
The ribbon is green with emerald side stripes.
