In terms of content, the museum belonging to the Mönchgut museums deals with the history and life on the Mönchgut peninsula. This is how the geology and geography of the region is treated. Prehistoric and early historical finds are shown, but also historical seafaring in the region and the emergence of tourism with the development of Göhren towards the Baltic Sea resort. One focus is dedicated to the Mönchgut folk art and regional costumes. The pre-industrial everyday culture, in particular the historical housekeeping and the living conditions of the fishermen who live on Mönchgut, is clearly presented. Next to a kitchen there is a room showing the domestic weaving that is practiced. In addition to a loom , equipment used for processing flax is exhibited.

In addition to objects of historical everyday culture, the museum also collects works of art by Mönchgut artists or works that deal with Mönchgut.
