The opening event of the Munich Climate Autumn 2019 "the moving city" took place again in the old town hall hall, close to politics and citizens.

The Munich Climate Autumn is a series of events that has taken place annually in Munich since 2007 . Its aim is to sensitize as many citizens as possible to the issues of climate protection and climate change . The event takes place every October. At the 13th Munich Climate Autumn in 2019, around 10,000 visitors took part in over 100 events within the campaign period of three weeks.

General

The Munich Climate Autumn took place for the first time in 2007. In 2019 it had developed into an event and educational platform for sustainability issues in Munich. It is supported by Netzwerk Klimaherbst e. V. This is a network of associations and initiatives, foundations, companies and educational institutions. In 2019, the Climate Autumn Network is mainly funded by the Department for Health and Environment of the City of Munich (RGU). Further sponsors in 2019 are the Sparda-Bank Munich , the Postcode Lottery, Green City Energy, the Hofpfisterei GmbH and the Selbach-Umwelt-Stiftung . While the Munich Climate Autumn in its early days was supported by a loose association of various associations and organizations active in the field of sustainability , the non-profit association Netzwerk Klimaherbst eV was founded in 2015 . The association enables the various forces that were involved in the sponsorship and organization of the Munich Climate Autumn to be bundled. The association was founded as a result of the growing interest of the population in the series of events in Munich's Climate Autumn. The organization and implementation of the various educational events took place in 2019 with over 400 partners.

The Netzwerk Klimaherbst eV pursues the goal of bringing together various actors from science, the private sector as well as city administration and politics with associations, foundations, organizations and institutions so that joint solutions for a sustainable way of life in Munich can be initiated. The events of the Munich Climate Autumn are usually free of charge. The common goal of all events of the Munich Climate Autumn is to highlight acute environmental problems . Citizens can often become active themselves at the events. For example, they can take part in excursions or clothing swaps. The topics of sustainability and climate protection are also brought to the attention of the population through workshops, lectures and other innovative formats. All age groups are included. Already when creating the climate autumn program, value is placed on a participatory approach, in that in addition to the various organizations and institutions, private individuals are also invited to help shape the program. The various event formats and changing thematic focuses are intended to appeal to as many visitors as possible and motivate them to make their own lives more sustainable. The main topics were a. 2013 and 2019 mobility , 2018 energy , 2017 justice , 2016 civil society engagement , 2015 politics , 2014 sufficiency and 2012 nutrition .
