The Münsterhof is a Burgmannshof in Horstmar in the Steinfurt district , North Rhine-Westphalia . It has been a listed building since November 7, 1989.

description

Like all Burgmannshöfe, it is on the edge of the city moat. This connects it to the city wall in the south. The remains can still be seen in the garden. The two-story two-wing building dates from the Renaissance and is enlivened by ten stone cross windows. A large garden borders the building, which is separated from the street by a wall. It is also accessible to the general public as part of the annual rose market.

history

The name is derived from the first owners, the Lords of Münster , who are recorded there as early as 1347. In 1550 a Herr von Canstein married into the Münsterhof. In 1576 it became the Neuhoff House. In 1699, Bernhard Engelbert Christian von Beverförde-Werries , the father of Friedrich Christian von Beverförde zu Werries, acquired the estate on the basis of a will. He adopted his nephew Friedrich Clemens von Elverfeldt zu Dahlhausen and Steinhausen and made him his heir. So the property came to the Elverfeldt family called von Beverfoerde zu Werries . The Münsterhof was thoroughly renovated a few years ago and serves as a training center and meeting room in the lower area of the Volksbank. The other floors were converted into apartments that are privately rented.
