The von Elverfeldt family called von Beverfoerde zu Werries (or even just von Beverfoerde-Werries ) is an old Westphalian noble family , a branch of the von Elverfeldt family , who received the extensive inheritance of the extinct family from Beverförde zu Werries by adoption in 1768 .

The family was named after Friedrich Christian von Beverförde zu Werries , who was also called "the great Werries". Friedrich Clemens now took on both names and called himself "Friedrich Clemens von Elverfeldt called von Beverfoerde zu Werries". On May 20, 1789, the name and coat of arms association was confirmed by Emperor Joseph II .

On April 24, 1792 he married Maria Anna Wilhelmine von und zu Westerholt-Gysenberg , a childhood sweetheart of Beethoven . She gave him five children: Carl, Friedrich, Max, Wilhelm and Wilhelmina.
