The Sendenhof is one of four preserved Burgmannshöfen in Horstmar in the Steinfurt / North Rhine-Westphalia district. It has been a listed building since January 29, 1985.

description

The Sendenhof is located at the northern city gate of Horstmar and used to be part of the general defense of the city. The two-wing complex with two floors includes building parts from the 13th to the 19th century. The north wing is used as a residential wing and clearly bears the year 1756. The archway of the threshing floor entrance in the west wing bears the year 1763. Both wings were widened in the 19th century.

history

The first known owner was Albert von Senden in 1366 ; hence the name Sendenhof. The barrel-vaulted cellars in the basement perhaps served as a prison for one of the two Anabaptists Heinrich Krechting and Bernd Knipperdolling who were imprisoned in Horstmar before their execution . It was followed in 1567 by the von Merveldt family, who also owned the neighboring Merveldter Hof , and then in quick succession by the von Raesfeld and von Ackerschock families . In 1679 Bernhard Engelbert Christian von Beverförde-Werries acquired the Burgmannshof. His son Friedrich Christian made his nephew Friedrich Clemens von Elverfeldt zu Dahlhausen and Steinhausen an heir and thus brought the property to the Elverfeldt family called von Beverfoerde zu Werries . It was followed in 1968 by the contractor Tappe and in 1970 by Hans Helmut Eßer. Dirk Preckel and his wife have owned the monument since 2010 .
