The Beverfoerder Hof , or Hof der Freiherrn von Elverfeld called von Beverförde-Werries , was an aristocratic palace in Münster and is considered a prime example of an early baroque aristocratic building. Several courtyards that were created in the following years are based on his French or Dutch-inspired three-wing construction. Today a bank is housed in the remaining building at Königsstrasse 46.

history

Beverfoerder Hof around 1912

The Davensberger Hof originally stood at this point. The Adelshof was built from 1699 to 1702 by Gottfried Laurenz Pictorius for Bernhard Engelbert Christian von Beverförde-Werries . The French-style city palace has a horseshoe-shaped floor plan, opens to the street and is blocked off by a wall with a high iron grille. The central building with brick masonry rises above it in two storeys. A flat central risalit is summarized by four Ionic pilasters and ends in a flat triangular gable , which bears the coat of arms of Beverfoerde and Neuhoff crowned with the baron crown on the front side. Including the motto of Beverfoerde, as it can also be seen on the main building at Loburg Castle , according to the ellipse : Deus Adiutor et Protector meus , d. H. God, my helper and protector. The entire system, construction and decorative forms are, following French rules, axially symmetrical. On October 10, 1943, the building was badly damaged in an air raid and only partially rebuilt after the war.
