Mangasar Magurditch Mangasarian (born December 29, 1859 - † June 26, 1943 ) was an Armenian - American philosopher. He gained notoriety for his commitment to atheism .

Life

Mangasarian founded the rationalist Independent Religious Society in Chicago in 1890 and remained its director until 1925. He wrote a number of well-known books critical of religion. The works in which he turned against the historical existence of Jesus of Nazareth in the spirit of the Jesus myth were particularly important . Mangasarian also wrote a large number of essays. Many of his works have been translated into several languages, including German. The focus is on religion-critical and religious-philosophical nature.
