MAN administration building (Gustavsburg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The former MAN administration building in Gustavsburg was built outside the factory premises in 1900 . It replaced the too small Gerber house in the immediate vicinity as the administrative headquarters.

Its Renaissance architecture, borrowed from town houses, reflected the pride of the new MAN factory owners. The south wing housed the drawing rooms behind the high windows. The north wing, with lower office floors, was added about 10 years later.

After the MAN plant in Gustavsburg was closed in 2008, the representative building was used as a TIGZ (technology, innovation and start-up center) and made office space available.

In the entrance area there are memorial plaques that read:

  • “The master of bridge construction Hans Herrmann born August 4th, 1865, died November 25th, 1932 to commemorate the strong exemplary leader of the Gustavsburg plant. "
  • " Max Carstanjen , 1856-1934. Founder and promoter of hydraulic steel construction, successful manager of the Gustavsburg plant "

recall. An empty plinth with the name Gerber indicates a bust of Heinrich Gerber that no longer exists.
