Gerber house

The Gerber House in Gustavsburg was built in 1861. It was the first administration building of the Klett company's assembly area with office space and drawing rooms. The Gerber House was not only called the “administration building” but also the “bridge building office”. The reason for this is that the drawings for the bridge structures were made there. After completion of the "new" administration building in 1900, the building as in-house was Werkschule or continuation school , and from 1912 in one of the IHK Darmstadt but supervised by the MAN factory -supported vocational school converted. The Gerber House was named after Heinrich Gottfried Gerber and consists of a two- to three-story half - timbered building with a later water tower extension in the Renaissance style .

The community bought the MAN building in 1989 and, after renovations, began using it in 1992 for youth work. Due to the dwindling acceptance, the youth center in the building was given up in 2014.

The Gerber House is part of the route of the industrial culture Rhein-Main Mainspitze and is located directly on the Mainbahn .
