MIDEWA

The MIDEWA water supply company in Central Germany GmbH , in short MIDEWA , is a water company in Saxony-Anhalt , headquartered in Merseburg . MIDEWA was founded on December 5th, 1996. It supplies around 323,000 residents in 62 municipalities and cities with around 20.2 million m³ of drinking water annually. About 90% of the water is bought in and only 10% is extracted.

In addition, it ensures sewage disposal for around 142,800 residents through service contracts. The supply area includes southern Saxony-Anhalt. 74.9% of the shareholders are cities and municipalities in the region, the remaining shares are held by Veolia Deutschland GmbH through its subsidiary OEWA.

The supply area extends to 3,198 km², the pipe network length is around 5,000 km. The chairman of the supervisory board is Peter Kunert, the former mayor of Querfurt . There are branches in Merseburg, Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Köthen (Anhalt) and in Lutherstadt Eisleben.
