The 24 cm cannon 3 ( K 3 for short ) was a field cannon of the Wehrmacht during World War II .

history

The K 3 was developed by Rheinmetall in Düsseldorf between 1935 and 1937 and built by Krupp in Essen from 1938 . It had a double return and cost 500,000 RM .

About ten guns were built, all of which were used by the I / Artillery Regiment 84 with two guns each in the three batteries .

The gun was driven in the motorized train in six loads to a total of 84,636 kilograms. It took 25 gunners about 90 minutes to get the K 3 ready to fire. The lifespan of a tube that fired 152.3 kilograms of bullet was approximately 500 rounds.

One copy is exhibited in the Defense Technical Study Collection in Koblenz .
