In 1938 the K 18 , with its wheel carriage resting in the firing position on a two-part base plate with a table that could be rotated through 360 °, was introduced and remained in service until the end of the war.

The fully field-usable gun was driven in two loads in the motorized train. The lifespan of a barrel that fired 43 kilograms of bullet was approximately 3,000 to 5,000 rounds.
