The 10.5 cm Gebirgshaubitze 40 was a mountain gun of the Wehrmacht during World War II .

history

The gun developed by the Böhler brothers in Kapfenberg had a support plate under the carriage axis. Since the wheels folded up when the carriage spars were spread, the gun rested on the support plate and the ends of the spar.

For transport, the gun was divided into five loads and packed in single-axle trailers, all of which were pulled by a Kettenkrad while driving one behind the other . The life of a barrel that fired 14.81 kilograms of bullets was approximately 8,000 to 10,000 rounds.

The Gebirgshaubitze 40 had been used in the heavy artillery departments of the mountain divisions since 1942. In 1942: 30, 1943: 104, 1944: 223 and 1945 at least one mountain howitzer 40 was delivered.
