The wurfrahmen 40 was a German rocket launcher of the armed forces from the Second World War . He combined half-track vehicles like the Sd.Kfz. 251 or captured French Renault UE Chenillette with rocket artillery in order to obtain a more mobile and slightly more protected artillery piece than the Nebelwerfer . In soldiers' jargon, it was referred to as "Stuka on foot" (due to the similar characteristic whistling sound as the Ju 87 "Stuka") or "Howling cow".

The weapon consisted of packing boxes attached to the sides or rear and was equipped with 300 mm explosive devices. 280 mm explosive devices and 320 mm flame projectiles could also be fired. As with all rocket artillery pieces of the time, the rockets tended to hit imprecisely and were therefore always fired in larger quantities against a target.

The most frequently used attachment to the Sdkfz-251 involved six packing boxes, three on each side. The Chenillette UE had either four racks at the stern or two on each side. The Hotchkiss H-35 also has two packing boxes on each side.
