history
The H M1 was developed by Rheinmetall in Düsseldorf and produced from 1939. The first howitzer went to the 1st battery of the heavy artillery division (motorized) 641.
The 123,500 kilogram gun had a double return and a two-part base plate for rotation through 360 °. It was transported in six loads on trolleys. With the help of an electric overhead crane, it could be erected within two hours. The lifespan of a barrel firing 575 kilograms of bullets was approximately 2000 rounds.
