The 12.8 cm Flak-Zwilling 40 was an anti -aircraft gun of the Wehrmacht in World War II .

history

The 12.8 cm Flak Zwilling 40 was a further development of the 12.8 cm Flak 40 . The second tube doubled the rate of fire to up to 28 rounds per minute. The doubled weight did not play a role, since the flak was only used in a fixed position in the base mount, mostly on flak towers .

Very few of the very expensive flak were manufactured by Hanomag in Hanover and Oberschlesische Gerätebau GmbH in Laurahütte . The highest stock was reached in January 1945 with 33 pieces.

The 12.8 cm Flak-Zwilling 40 was able to shoot 26 kg HE shells 14,800 meters high. The life of a tube was approximately 1000 to 2000 shots.
