Branch lines

Some connections also run from Secunderabad in a northerly direction to the terminus Bolarum with MMTS trains, but are not yet officially integrated into the network. There is also a connection that uses both lines from Hyderabad Deccan to Falaknuma .

Usage and capacity

The MMTS was inaugurated in 2003. Until 2007, an average of around 70,000 people per day used this so far only public transport system besides buses, since then the numbers have increased rapidly. The railway is now at its capacity limits. Frequent delays are a consequence.

A total of 84 trains currently run daily between the 26 stations at a rather irregular frequency (usually 20 to 60 minutes), both routes together have a length of 43 kilometers.

The planned construction of the metro in Hyderabad is currently a relief. Recently, the construction of a tangent outside the city center was also considered, which is intended for the use of freight trains. So far, due to their number, these have been the biggest obstacle to higher frequency, as the MMTS train runs on the rails of the South Central Railway , which also operates it.
