MOL Petrolkémia , until 2015 Tiszai Vegyi Kombinát (TVK) , is a chemical company and a 100% subsidiary of MOL . The main plant is located in Tiszaújváros (New Town on the Tisza) and is supplied with ethylene via a pipeline from Karpatneftechim in the Ukraine . A branch channel from the Tisza supplies it with cooling water.

After the construction of the Tiszapalkonya power plant , the National Planning Commission of VR Hungary decided to build a fertilizer plant, which was started in 1955. The city of Tiszaújváros was also rebuilt. In 1959 a gas pipeline from Romania was completed. In 1966 the production of polyethylene was started. Polypropylene production began in 1983 , and HDPE has been produced since 1986 .
