geography

course

around 10 meters high waterfall near Billikon

The Brandrütibach rises at about 649  m above sea level. M. on Buechstrasse at Hof Erli between First and Ottikon in the Illnau-Effretikon community. For the first 180 meters it is overturned under the fields of the Erli farm before it comes to the surface for the first time. For around 180 meters, it forms the edge of the forest of Schalchhof on its north-easterly course, before it is overturned again and initially directed towards the north-west and then towards the north-east, crossing under the fields in the Tannacher .

Only a little later he reaches the hamlet of Billikon , where he takes up the Tannhölzlibach from the right. It crosses under the western part of the village on Kyburgstrasse and reappears shortly afterwards, where it formerly formed the municipal boundary to Kyburg. It initially flows just north-west, before it runs mostly in a north-easterly direction to its mouth.

After a short run through fields near Bungert, the stream flows through a small ravine, accompanied by a wide forest edge. It flows into the Chuppenacherbach from the right, which flows through the eastern part of the village of Billikon and an unnamed tributary from the left immediately afterwards. Here the edge of the forest spreads out into a forest strip, which connects to the Chämleterwald in the north . Shortly after the Solenbach footpath , the brook drops 10 meters into the Brandrütitobel . The ravine , initially around 20 meters deep, is now expanding further and further. It takes in the water of the Solenbach from the right and, after a waterfall about 2 meters high, that of the Hinderwisbächlis from the left. After the confluence of the Bännenbodenbächli from the left and a left branch and the overcoming of several small waterfalls, the ravine reaches a depth of about 90 to 100 meters.

The following is an approximately 4.5-meter waterfall, after which the right Roswistobelbach from the Roswistobel will flow and only shortly after the Roswislibach . From the Chämetertobel just 15 meters flows later Chämetertobelbach which overcomes on its stream a 15-foot waterfall, too. The confluence of the Grundbächlis and the Zimmermannstobelbach then follows from the right. It flow to him the edge Bach and Chämleterbodenbach to left. After the mouth of the Ahornbodenbach on the right bank, the ravine reaches its deepest point with a depth of around 140 meters before it enters the Leisental (also Linsental). The Brandrütibach flows here at an altitude of 458  m above sea level. M. from the left into the middle course of the Töss, which curves here towards the north.

Catchment area

The 2.8 square kilometer catchment area lies in the municipality of Illnau-Effretikon and consists of 51% agricultural area and 49% near-natural area and forest. The highest point is 688  m above sea level. M. at the Baumgarten reservoir near First , the average altitude is 620  m above sea level. M.

In the south and west lies the catchment area of the Kempt and in the east that of the Wissenbach and the Mülitobelbach , all of which also drain into the Töss.
