Ships of the type MTW COT 20 of the MTW shipyard are ice-going chemical tankers . The series of this type of ship built between 1993 and 1995 by the Wismar shipyard comprises six units, all of which were delivered to the Rigel Schiffahrt shipping company in Leer. With the exception of the last Isarstern unit , all ships were sold again between 2011 and 2013.

The ships are designed as chemical and oil product tankers with a high ice class (1A / E3). The double-hulled ships with superstructures arranged aft are mainly used in Northern Europe. The units have 20 individual tanks with a total capacity of 20,014 m³ and a load capacity of 17,080 tons. The tankers in the series are equipped with a hose crane with a lifting capacity of eight tons at the level of the manifold .

The ships are powered by a four-stroke MAN B&W 7L48 / 60 diesel engine with an output of around 6600 kW at 428 rpm. The engine is driven by a gearbox from DMR Dieselmotorenwerk Rostock GmbH, Type 6 VE 1000, on the hydraulically controlled controllable pitch propeller with 128 / min. And a shaft generator with 1,800 / min. translated. The maximum speed is just under 14.5 knots. There are also three auxiliary diesels of the type MAN B&W 7 L20 / 27 and an emergency diesel generator. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .
