The MaK G 762 C locomotive is a diesel-hydraulic locomotive that was built by Maschinenbau Kiel (MaK) . It was the first type of the 3rd MaK type program, which was offered from 1977. What this program had in common was that, instead of slow-running engines from our own production, which were also used in shipbuilding, high-speed third-party engines were installed in this model from MTU . For safety reasons, the driver's cabs could no longer be reached directly from the ground, but only by circulating. The MaK G 762 C has three axles located in the frame, which are driven by cardan shafts. It has an output of 600 kW and thus a good 100 kW more than the MaK G 761 C, which was built at the same time . It reaches a maximum speed of up to 55 km / h. Its service weight is 66 t, the tank capacity is 1,500 l.

The MaK G 762 C was built in only three copies between 1977 and 1979. Two went to Krupp Stahl AG and are now with the Dortmund Railway (DE) . One went to Solvay AG .
