The MaK G 761 C locomotive is a diesel-hydraulic locomotive that was built by Maschinenbau Kiel (MaK). Together with the more powerful G 762 C, it was the first model of the 3rd MaK model range, which was offered from 1977. What this program had in common was that, instead of slow-running engines from our own production, which were also used in shipbuilding, high-speed third-party engines were installed in this model from MTU . For safety reasons, the driver's cabs could no longer be reached directly from the ground, but only by circulating. The MaK G 762 C has three axles located in the frame, which are driven by cardan shafts. It was offered with two different motors with 470 kW and 500 kW respectively. It reaches a maximum speed of up to 55 km / h. Their service weight is up to 66 t, the tank capacity is 1,500 l.
In the German vehicle settings register, the series number 92 80 0262 is provided for the G 761 C.
commitment
Between 1977 and 1982 18 locomotives were built, five of them with the less powerful engine. The locomotives were mainly delivered to works and port railways, especially to the coal and steel industry. Seven locomotives alone went to Krupp Stahl AG . Shell AG and Neusser Eisenbahn bought two locomotives each . All 18 built locomotives are still in use.
