The Maschinenbau Kiel since the early 1950s offered more standardized programs of diesel locomotives whose designs could be modified according to the wishes of the client.

The designation is uniform: letters in front indicate the type of power transmission, numbers in the type designation indicate the approximate power in PS, the letters after the wheel order.

Diesel locomotives

1st generation (with jackshaft and coupling rods, MaK rod locomotives )

2nd generation (with cardan shaft drive , four-axle locomotives have bogies)

3rd generation (adaptation to standards of the Federal Association of German Railways , high-speed, exchangeable diesel engines)

4th generation (revision, larger cabs, standard bogie)

5th generation (revision, standard driver's cab)
