The MaK DE 502 locomotive is a diesel-electric locomotive that was built by Maschinenbau Kiel (MaK) . It is basically a DE 501 equipped with different engines , which it replaced in production in 1984. The wheel arrangement of the MaK DE 502 is Co. It has an output of either 510 kW or 560 kW and reaches a maximum speed of up to 45 km / h. Engines from MWM (510 kW) or MTU (560 kW) were installed. The MaK DE 502 was built in 13 copies between 1985 and 1989. Of these, four went to RAG Bahn und Häfen, three to the mining company Sophia-Jacoba , two to BASF and one each to Daimler-Benz and BBC.

The three Sophia Jacoba locomotives were taken over by the Mittelweserbahn in Bruchhausen-Vilsen in March 2008 .
