Of the one-piece four-axle railcars of the DB class 627 , a total of 13 vehicles were produced in two series. They were developed together with the two-part multiple units of the 628 series .
history
The Bundesbahn Central Offices in Munich , developed in 1972 together with the companies Duewag and MaK a new railcars type of lightweight construction for use on secondary lines , the one piece as a series should be made 627 and a two-part series as 628th Parts from truck construction, such as the engines , were used. In 1974 eight copies with two different engine types were built. After extensive testing, another five slightly modified vehicles were built in 1981 and listed as the 627.1 series. In contrast to the first vehicles with longitudinal beads, they received a smooth outer skin and normal pulling and pushing devices, which were later built into the first series in order to enable universal use. In addition, instead of the translating windows, they only had top-hung windows and other seats. In contrast to the 628 series , there was no series production . The main areas of use were the routes around Tübingen and Kempten , as well as Braunschweig until 1980. From 1985 to 2004 they were used on the Kinzig Valley Railway (Black Forest) from Hausach to Freudenstadt and on to Eutingen im Gäu. In Waller's last course , the main actor Waller drives to work in a class 627.
construction
The car bodies were made from rolled sections and folded sheet metal. The bogies were designed according to the Wegmann design; Here, attention was paid to lightweight construction. There were two pivoting sliding doors on each side of the car. In the interior there was a passenger compartment and a cargo compartment with folding seats . The railcars could be driven in multiple control with up to six units with the 628 series. They were set up for one-man operation.
Whereabouts
The 13 vehicles were completely taken out of service by Deutsche Bahn between 2001 and 2006 . The railcars 627 003, 005, 008, 101, 102, 104 and 105 found a new home in Poland at the Koleje Mazowieckie , the rest was scrapped. The 627 001, which is intended as a museum vehicle, was destroyed in the major fire of the roundhouse in the Nürnberg West depot ( DB Museum ) in 2005 and also scrapped.
