Val-de-Travers is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Neuchâtel .
It was created on January 1st, 2009 from the merger of Boveresse , Buttes , Couvet , Fleurier , Les Bayards , Môtiers , Noiraigue , Saint-Sulpice and Travers . The seat of the administration is in the former district capital Môtiers.

The territory of the municipality occupies the eastern part of the Val de Travers , through which the Areuse flows.
Neighboring municipalities of Val-de-Travers are La Côte-aux-Fées , Les Verrières , La Brévine , Les Ponts-de-Martel , Brot-Plamboz , Rochefort , Boudry and La Grande Béroche in the canton of Neuchâtel, then Fontaines-sur-Grandson , Fiez , Provence , Tévenon and Mauborget in the canton of Vaud, as well as Hauterive-la-Fresse and Les Alliés in neighboring France.
history
On April 3, 2007, the municipal parliaments unanimously decided to merge all eleven municipalities in the Val-de-Travers district. The proposal for the merger was submitted to the voters on June 17, 2007. Since the municipalities of Les Verrières and La Côte-aux-Fées had spoken out against the merger, the merger could not take place for the time being. A new project, which aims to merge the other nine municipalities under this name, was implemented on January 1, 2009.

politics
The legislature is the conseil général ( General Council ), which is elected by the electorate every four years, most recently on June 5, 2016. For the 2016-2020 legislature, it is composed as follows: FDP 14 seats (2012: 17), SP 13 seats (2012: 14), SVP 9 seats (2012: 6), GPS 3 seats (2012: 2) and POP 2 seats (2012: 2).
The executive is formed by the five-person conseil communal ( local council ). He is also elected by the legislature for four years. It currently consists of three representatives from the FDP and two social democrats.
The voting shares of the parties on the occasion of the National Council election in 2019 were: FDP 26.1%, SVP 21.1%, SP 17.1%, GPS 15.7%, PdA / Sol 10.5%, glp 6.1%, CVP 3 ,1 %.
Healthcare
The public hospital with 24-hour care is located in the district of Couvet . It belongs to the hospital network Hôpitaux neuchâtelois (French for: Neuchâtel hospitals).
