Val-de-Ruz is a municipality in the canton of Neuchâtel that was created on January 1, 2013 .
It was created through the merger of the political communities of Boudevilliers , Cernier , Chézard-Saint-Martin , Coffrane , Dombresson , Engollon , Fenin-Vilars-Saules , Fontainemelon , Fontaines , Les Geneveys-sur-Coffrane , Les Hauts-Geneveys , Montmollin , Le Pâquier , Savagnier and Villiers . It thus includes all municipalities in the Val-de-Ruz district with the exception of Valangin .

The municipality of Val-de-Ruz is located in the valley of the same name in the Neuchâtel Jura between the two cities of Neuchâtel and La Chaux-de-Fonds. The neighboring municipalities of Val-de-Ruz are in the canton of Neuchâtel in the east Lignières and Enges , in the south-east Neuchâtel , in the south Valangin , Peseux and Corcelles-Cormondrèche , in the south-west Rochefort , in the west Brot-Plamboz and La Sagne and in the north-west La Chaux- de-Fonds and in the canton of Bern in the north of Renan , Sonvilier , Saint-Imier , Villeret and Nods .
