Les Planchettes is a municipality in the canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland .

geography

Les Planchettes is 1063  m above sea level. M. , five kilometers west of the former district capital La Chaux-de-Fonds (as the crow flies). The farming village extends on the northern slope of the Pouillerel in the Neuchâtel Jura , around 400 m above the deeply cut valley of the Doubs .

The area of the 11.7 km² municipal area includes the northern slope of the Pouillerel, which is relatively flat in the upper part, very steep in the lower part and partly crossed by ledges. The highest point of Les Planchettes is 1276  m above sea level. M. on the ridge of the Pouillerel. Here there are extensive Jura high pastures with the typical mighty spruce trees , which either stand individually or in groups. The northern and western municipal boundaries, which are also the national borders of Switzerland, form the Doubs. This is dammed up to the west of the village in a gorge-like valley with striking rock walls ( Creux de Moron ) to the Lac de Moron , the eastern half of which is still on the municipal floor. In 1997, 3% of the municipal area was in settlements, 58% in forests and woodlands, 37% in agriculture and a little more than 2% was unproductive land.

Les Planchettes includes the hamlet Le Dazenet , 920  m above sea level. M. on a ledge above the Doubstal, as well as numerous individual farms scattered across the Jura heights. Neighboring municipalities to Les Planchettes are Les Brenets , Le Locle and La Chaux-de-Fonds in the canton of Neuchâtel and Villers-le-Lac and Grand'Combe-des-Bois in neighboring France .

traffic

The community is far away from the larger thoroughfares. The main access is from La Chaux-de-Fonds. The village is connected to the public transport network through a PostBus course that runs from La Chaux-de-Fonds to Les Planchettes and temporarily to Biaufond on the Doubs.

history

The area of Les Planchettes was not reclaimed until after the 15th century by settlers from the Val de Ruz and the Vallée des Ponts . The farms were under the jurisdiction of the Valangin rule , which finally came to Neuchâtel in 1592. From 1648 Neuchâtel was a principality and from 1707 it was linked to the Kingdom of Prussia through personal union. In 1806 the area was ceded to Napoleon I and came to the Swiss Confederation in the course of the Congress of Vienna in 1815 , whereby the kings of Prussia until the Neuchâtel trade in 1857 also remained princes of Neuchâtel. In 1812 the Le Grand-Quartier and Le Dazenet settlements merged to form the municipality of Les Planchettes.
