The NSB Di 2 is a Norwegian shunting locomotive that Norges Statsbaner procured.

history

The locomotives were built in 1954 and three in 1957 by MaK in Kiel. MaK initially developed this machine for Stockholm-Nynäs-Järnväg AB in Sweden under the series designation MaK 575 C. Two units were discontinued there in 1951 as the SNJ 11 and 12.

The six Di 2 built by MaK were equipped with MaK diesel engines with 575 HP (423 kW) and a Voith gearbox; the locomotives 804 and 805 built by Thunes mekaniske Verksted in 1958 received the same equipment. The rest of the locomotives were built by Thunes between 1961 and 1973 Machines received BMV engines. The maximum speed is 80 km / h with a service weight of 49 t.

Whereabouts

The first locomotive, Di 2 808 , was retired on November 30, 1981, followed by Di 2 805 on September 13, 1983 . More machines followed almost every year, the last of which were taken out of service in 1999. Some of them remained on hold for over ten years after being retired until they were scrapped.

XZ-Di 2

Some locomotives were assigned to the NSB BB area for maintenance work in 1999. They received the series designation XZ-Di 2 as an internal device. These were Di 2 839 , 841 and 843 . The latter two have been assigned to the Norsk Jernbane Museum in Hamar since 2009 .

Di 2 839 was repainted in 1991 for use in the television series Sesam Stasjon (Norwegian version of Sesame Street). In 2011 the locomotive was painted green.

The following locomotives have been preserved:

  • 817 - Bergen Teknisk Museum

Locomotives 805, 807 and 817 were used in films by the Norwegian Olsen Gang.

Skd 225 236

In 1997, locomotive 854 in the Netherlands was equipped with a Caterpillar engine with 720 hp (530 kW). The driver's cab was modernized. The locomotive, which was then used by CargoNet , was classified as the only shunting tractor under the designation Skd 225 with the number 236. The locomotive was scrapped in December 2012.
