The Vossloh G 12 is a four-axle diesel-hydraulic locomotive from the manufacturer Vossloh , which is designed for heavy shunting and light mainline service. It was built in 2010. The locomotive has the number 92 80 4120 in the German vehicle settings register.
development
As a further development of the MaK G 1205 BB , this locomotive was built in 2010 at Vossloh in Kiel . Compared to its predecessor, the new locomotive is manufactured in accordance with TSI and can therefore be used across Europe.
With this type of locomotive, Vossloh has also brought a diesel-electric variant with the designation DE 12 onto the market. The G 12 was presented at InnoTrans 2010. As a result of adaptations to new railway regulations, the type is described as a representative of the fifth generation of Mak and Vossloh locomotives . The new naming scheme expresses the engine power divided by 100.
technology
The construction of the G12 series is designed for heavy shunting and light route operations based on the model of the DB series V 90 . This tried and tested construction from the previous machines has been revised according to the principles of the latest European standards. The locomotive frame and the superstructures of the G 12 are designed according to the crash standard EN 15227 and thus offer even more safety for the locomotive personnel in the event of an accident.
The eight-cylinder four-stroke diesel engine 8V 4000 R43 (L) from MTU was used as the drive motor . This engine is designed according to the EU Stage IIIA emissions standard. A soot particle filter can also be used for an even greater reduction in exhaust emissions .
The power is transmitted by a fluid transmission . The wheel sets are fitted with disc brakes .
commitment
The only example in the series was completed in 2010 and presented at InnoTrans. It was shown a second time at the fair in 2014. So far, the locomotive has been used in 2015 on a rental basis by Spitzke Logistik and then by two other companies in the railway construction industry. In 2017 it was sold to KAF SIGBAHNTEC and now bears the NVR number 92 80 4120 001-7 D-KAF .
