The MaK G 763 C locomotive is a diesel-hydraulic locomotive that was built by Maschinenbau Kiel (MaK) . It is included in the third MaK type program, which was offered from 1977. It is the successor to the MaK G 761 C , which was built in 18 units , differs from it in that it has a more powerful engine and a different gearbox. What this program had in common was that, instead of slow-running engines from our own production, which were also used in shipbuilding, high-speed third-party engines were installed in this model from MTU . For safety reasons, the driver's cabs could no longer be reached directly from the ground, but only by circulating. The MaK G 763 C has three axles located in the frame, which are driven by cardan shafts. It has an output of 560 kW and reaches a maximum speed of up to 40 km / h. It has a service weight of up to 66 t. Your tank capacity is 1,500 l.

The MaK G 763 C was built in 27 copies between 1982 and 1993. The largest customers with three locomotives each were the Siegen Kreisbahn and the city ports of Hanover. All locomotives are still in service. The series number 98 80 0262 was assigned to this type in the German Vehicle Settings Register.
