history

OHJ MO in Holbæk , 1974

The GDT was developed by Maschinenbau Kiel for small and private railways in the early 1950s . Eleven copies of it were built as an internal combustion engine (VT) for north German private railways.

In the wagon construction part, the company relied on the design of the central entry car of the Deutsche Bundesbahn . The diesel engines each drove the axles on the inside of the bogies, only in the VT 81 of the Kleinbahn Kiel – Segeberg both axles of the bogie were driven.

The Danish Odsherred Jernbane (OHJ) was also supplied by MaK with two related railcars. The vehicles delivered in 1961 were classified there as MO 25 and MO 26, the vehicles equipped with 66 seats had car crossings and a maximum speed of 120 km / h. The BL 230 and BL 231 sidecars were purchased for these railcars .

The railcars were delivered to the following railways:

After the passenger traffic of the Kiel-Segeberger Eisenbahn was stopped, their MaK GDT came to the Kiel-Schönberger Eisenbahn. There the MaK railcars were coupled with Esslingen control cars if required .

After the cessation of passenger traffic, the Kiel railcars and one OHE railcar were sold to southern German railways, and six OHE railcars went to Italy in 1976/77 . After the railcars had been parked in Italy, they were bought in 2000 by the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Verkehrsfreunde Lüneburg (AVL) and brought back to Germany.

Only two vehicles have so far been scrapped, the others are still there today and some are operational. The engine was removed from some examples, after which they were only used as a sidecar. In 2010 the following were operational:

Burned out wreckage of the former T3 of the KND in Kiel

The T3 of the Nordfriesische Verkehrsbetriebe is no longer operational. It was after a long shutdown in Danish Tønder in 2008 after Kiel to the marshalling yard Meimersdorf spent, where he burned 2012th Since then, the wreck has not been removed by the current owner, despite repeated requests from the Kiel seaport.
