history
On May 15, 1873 the line and with it the Syke station was opened. The reception building dates back to the construction period and is still there today, but is no longer in use. It is a monument including the goods shed.
Since 1899 the meter- gauge small train Hoya-Syke-Asendorf ended in a head track in front of the station, this station was called Syke Ost . A track led to the street side of the goods shed in the reception building. To the north of the station there were reloading and reloading tracks for goods traffic, and since 1940 there has also been a trolley pit . There was also a separate engine shed. In 1966 the line was switched to standard gauge. With the renewal of the tracks of the Kleinbahn, known as Verkehrsbetriebe Grafschaft Hoya since 1966 , the entrance was changed in 2005, so that direct access to the DB station became possible. The tracks in front of the station, as well as the transfer tracks north of the station, were removed.
In 1971 the station received a pushbutton interlocking, and since 2008 it has been remote-controlled from Diepholz.
The station was modernized in 2013 and has been barrier-free since then. In December 2010 the station was integrated into the new network of the regional S-Bahn Bremen / Lower Saxony .
