The Diepholz Station is the only passenger station of the district town Diepholz . It is located on the Wanne-Eickel-Hamburg railway line and is a stop for regional express trains on the regular schedule as well as for individual intercity trains . The line was double-tracked from 1881 to 1883 and electrified in the 1960s.
history
The station building was built in 1871/72 and opened on May 15, 1873. Both the station building and the former post office building largely correspond to their original condition and can be assigned to the historicism style.
Other buildings were the freight and locomotive shed, the water station, the coal shed and an outbuilding, but they were demolished in 1979.
In 1923 the Diepholz – Nienburg line was opened.
However, passenger traffic on this connection was discontinued in 1966/1969. Today it is only used by freight trains for Exxon-Mobil in Barenburg and BTR-Logistik in Rehden. The Sulingen – Nienburg section has been closed since 1997.
In 2010 a tunnel was built under the station for car, pedestrian and bicycle traffic. In 2016, the station building and ancillary buildings were sold to several local investors.
There is a house platform and a central platform.
At the beginning of 2017, the pedestrian bridge built over the tracks in the 1960s was demolished. The central platform can therefore only be reached via the tunnel by stairs or elevator. Since 2017, all platform systems have also been comprehensively modernized as part of the "Lower Saxony is on the train III" program. The work should be completed in 2019.
