The Twistringen train station is the train station of the town of Twistringen in the Diepholz district in Lower Saxony , located at km 197.8 on the Wanne-Eickel-Hamburg railway line known as the "Rollbahn" .

history

Twistringen station is on the Wanne-Eickel-Hamburg railway line. This was built from 1870 to 1874 by the Cologne-Mindener Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (CME) and branches off its main line (Cologne-) Deutz-Minden in Wanne-Eickel as part of the Hamburg-Venloer Bahn . Today, the main line has been expanded to consist of at least two tracks and electrified , and in some parts the liner train control allows speeds of up to 200 km / h. The Twistringer train station was put into operation in 1873. He has a main building and an adjoining goods shed.

The demolition of the main station building, built around 1873, has been discussed since 2011. It was owned by the railway until 2006 when it was sold to the municipality. At the end of 2012, an investor bought the station building.

The station was the beginning of April 2012 as part of the action Lower Saxony is the train (short Niaz) accessible rebuilt. The passenger tunnel was also affected by this. This has received an elevator to the platform and new staircases. The platforms were completely torn down and replaced by higher platform edges (old 38 cm above SE, new 76 cm above SE) with guidance systems for the blind . The trains on the central platform can now be reached at the same level.

In December 2010 the station was integrated into the network of the regional S-Bahn Bremen / Lower Saxony .

The station building , a single-storey central building with a loft and two two-storey front buildings, was built around 1873. In addition to rooms for passengers, there was a train station restaurant and three apartments. The brick masonry building has a basement and is covered with a gable roof made of wood, which is paneled and covered with bricks. It has more than 1000 square meters of floor space.

A goods shed, also built around 1873, connects to the southwest. The brick building with a gable roof built on the loading ramp contains office and storage space that is no longer used today. There is a connection to the local Raiffeisen goods cooperative in the western area of ​​the station.

In March 1974 a track diagram interlocking (track plan pushbutton interlocking) of the type 'Sp Dr S60' was put into operation in the station building. The technical facilities are still available, the signal box was connected to the remote control of the ESTW Diepholz in the Hanover operations center on the night of December 5th to 6th, making the position of the local dispatcher superfluous.
