The End of Heartache ( ger .: 's "The End of sorrow"), the third album by the American metalcore band Killswitch Engage . The album was released on May 10, 2004 via Roadrunner Records .

History of origin

The End of Heartache is the first album with new singer Howard Jones and drummer Justin Foley. Jones and Foley previously played together on Blood Has Been Shed . Guest musicians were Jesse Leach ( Seemless , The Empire Shall Fall , ex-Killswitch Engage) and Phil Labonte ( All That Remains ).

The album was produced from December 15, 2003 to January 29, 2004 by guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz in Zing Studios. The album was mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap in the Backstage Productions studio ( Derbyshire , Great Britain ). The publication took place in May 2004.

The first song written for this album was "When Darkness Falls", which was also featured on the soundtrack for the horror film Freddy vs. Jason is to be found.

The End of Heartache reached number 21 on the US album charts. In the USA alone, the album has sold over 500,000 times and thus achieved gold status . In Germany the album reached number 42 in the charts. The title song was released as a single from the album. The single was nominated in 2004 for a Grammy in the category Best Metal Performance .

Republication

In 2005 the album was re-released with a bonus CD containing six more songs. This re-release caused a lot of displeasure among the fans. The Resident Evil version of the theme song was used on the soundtrack for the film Resident Evil: Apocalypse .
