Killswitch Engage is the fifth album by the American metalcore band Killswitch Engage . The album was released on June 30, 2009 via Roadrunner Records and is the second self-titled album after the debut album in 2000. A special edition and a vinyl record were also released on the same day .

History of origin

For the first time an album of the band was produced by Adam Dutkiewicz and Brendan O'Brien . Before the album was released, the band played the song A Light in a Darkened World at their concerts as a kind of preview of the new album. On June 5, 2009, the music video for Starting Over was released.

style

On this album, the band continues the music that was played on the previous album As Daylight Dies and is more mainstream oriented. The hardcore elements typical of Metalcore have been reduced and the melody is more in the foreground. In addition, Killswitch Engage built several technical and progressive elements into their music. The alternation between guttural and clear vocals as well as various guitar solos are still present. The album also features very catchy and calm songs like Lost or The Return .

success

58,000 copies were sold in the first week and the album is the best-selling in the history of Killswitch Engage. It peaked at number 7 on the US weekly Billboard 200 chart .
