The Vossloh G 6 is a three-axle diesel - hydraulic shunting locomotive made by Vossloh and has been built since 2008. Assigned model series in the German vehicle settings register are 98 80 0279 and 98 80 0650.

development

With the locomotive type, Vossloh has a three-axle type on offer again after a long time, after the MaK G 765 was last built in 2002. The G 6 was presented at InnoTrans 2008. As a result of various adjustments to new railway regulations, the type is described as the first representative of a fifth generation of Mak and Vossloh locomotives . This is also underlined by the choice of a new designation scheme (the number corresponding to the engine power was last written out, here only the hundred digit is given).

technology

The construction of the G 6 series is designed for shunting use. With a selection of additional equipment, the locomotives can be adapted to specific operating conditions.

The locomotive frame of the G 6 is already prepared for various equipment variants. The superstructures are divided into individually removable sections, which contributes to ease of maintenance. They have been developed from those of the previous types, the driver's cab has been completely redesigned.

The use of motors from three different manufacturers is envisaged. In addition to the variant as a shunting locomotive with a top speed of 35 km / h, a variant with a top speed of up to 80 km / h is also available.

The power is transmitted by a L3r4zeU2 turbo transmission from Voith .

The wheel sets are disc braked. The cooling and exhaust systems are prepared for future emission regulations and can be equipped with a particle filter , for example .

commitment

A first demonstration copy was completed in 2008 and presented at InnoTrans. Extensive test drives at home and abroad followed with this and another locomotive of this type over the next few years.

In September 2010 two of the units completed by then were initially delivered as rental locomotives to the Peine-Salzgitter transport company . In 2011 this company is to receive its first series delivery with 18 locomotives of this type. In June 2011 VPS ordered 22 more G6s, so that from 2016, 40 locomotives of the G6 series will be in use at VPS. Three other machines are also on loan from BASF in Ludwigshafen. At the end of 2011, BASF u. a. 16 G6. The first G 6 sold has been in use at the Stendal pulp mill since 2011 .

Awards

The Vossloh G 6 series was awarded the Privatbahn Magazin innovation prize in 2008/2009 .
