Under the name MaK G 1100 BB , Maschinenbau Kiel (MaK) built a four-axle type of locomotive with a diesel-hydraulic drive between 1969 and 1978 . As the most powerful variant of the second MaK locomotive type program , the series was the successor to the MaK 1200 D from the first MaK type program. In the EBA vehicle register , the locomotive type is assigned the series designation 98 80 0261.

technical features

The wheel arrangement of the MaK G 1100 BB is B'B ', so it has two bogies with two driven wheelsets each . The used engine of the type MaK 6M282 AK with supercharging and intercooling develops a maximum output of 810 kW (1100 HP) at 1000 rpm. The series was delivered with two different hydrodynamic gearbox designs from Voith , the maximum speed is a maximum of 60 km / h. The power transmission from the transmission output shaft located deep between the bogies takes place via cardan shafts and gear set backsets to the respective inner gear sets, from these via a through drive of the back gear via another cardan shaft to the back gear of the outer gear sets. The service weight is between 68 and 80 tons, depending on the version, the tank capacity is 3000 liters.

commitment

Between 1969 and 1978 a total of 17 locomotives of this type were built for nine different customers. With four copies, the Altona-Kaltenkirchen-Neumünster railway was the largest customer. The machines often replaced existing steam locomotives or diesel locomotives with a lower output and were or are still used today in medium-weight freight trains and heavy shunting services. All locomotives are still available today and are in service with various railways in Germany and Italy.
