The Norddeutsche Eisenbahngesellschaft Niebüll GmbH - neg for short - is a company active in rail transport. It is based in Niebüll in Schleswig-Holstein . Since September 2001 neg has been a subsidiary of the Luxembourg state railway Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois (CFL). Within the Luxembourg state-owned railway company, it is headed by the Director for Passenger Transport.
history
Initially, neg only operated goods traffic in the Uetersen – Tornesch area . Local rail passenger transport was added on January 1, 2004 when it took over the operation of the Niebüll – Dagebüll line from the insolvent Nordfriesische Verkehrsbetriebe AG . Since then, the subsidiary Norddeutsche Eisenbahngesellschaft Niebüll GmbH has been responsible for this area . In July 2004 she founded the subsidiary Dansk Jernbane ApS (DJ) in Denmark in order to be active in freight transport there. However, since 2006, freight traffic has been entirely under the responsibility of CFL Cargo.

Timetable offer
On the Niebüll – Dagebüll route, neg operates regular scheduled services, coordinated with the arrival and departure times of the ferries to Föhr and Amrum and the long-distance services of Deutsche Bahn (DB). In the summer months, some trains run with through coaches that are coupled to the Intercity in Niebüll .
For the period from February 2011 to December 2025, neg received a transport contract at the end of August 2013 and will continue to take over the transports with an annual volume of 92,000 train kilometers during this period.
The route from Niebüll via Tondern to Esbjerg is operated jointly with Arriva Tog A / S following a tender . There has been a continuous connection here since December 2010.
