The Metro Station Mabillon is an underground station of Line 10 of the Paris Métro .

location

The station is located in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district of the 6th arrondissement of Paris . It lies lengthways under the Rue du Four south of its confluence with the Boulevard Saint-Germain .

Despite the close proximity to the Saint-Germain-des-Prés metro station, no pedestrian tunnel was created between the two stations for people changing trains. The transfer station between lines 4 and 10 is the Odéon subway station to the east .

Surname

It was named after the Rue Mabillon, which goes south from the Rue du Four. The deceased monk Jean Mabillon (1632–1701), who worked in the nearby Saint-Germain-des-Prés Abbey, is considered to be the founder of the auxiliary historical sciences .

history

The Mabillon underground station went into operation on March 10, 1925 with the opening of line 10, which was then extended from the Croix-Rouge station (closed since 1939) to there. Until February 13, 1926, Mabillon was temporarily the eastern end of the line.

description

The station, which is situated in a slight curve, lies under an elliptical, white-tiled vault with curved side walls. It has two side platforms on two main tracks and is 75 m long. There is a simple rail link in front of the western head. There are exits on the south side of Rue du Four at the junction of Rue Mabillon (with escalator) and Rue de Montfaucon.

The entrance on Rue de Montfaucon is marked by a candelabra designed by Adolphe Dervaux in the Art Deco style .

vehicles
