The MacDonald Spur is a long and low mountain ridge in East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Allan Hills, it extends east from Ballance Peak .
A team working in the Allan Hills as part of the New Zealand Antarctic Research Program in 1964 explored it. This named him Ivan MacDonald, who belonged to this team as a field research assistant.
